Symmetry

I thought I'll be the first to blog about this place but I thought wrong hah. I happened to chance upon Symmetry on my way back from my weekend morning run, situated right at Jalan Kubor.  This is in between Bugis and Lavendar. It was still closed when I past by in the morning but the dolls outside caught my attention.
Since we were looking for somewhere to eat, I suggested to Der to drop by in the afternoon. Despite the not so usual kind of location, I was surprised the place was actually bustling. There were even groups coming in with reservations as well. This place serves brunch, lunch and dinner.
I love the bar area. The decor of the place is really chic and cosy.

I ordered a smoothie which was to my liking but I thought was too pricey- $10
Comes with a beautifully crafted strawberry to resemble a rose.
We shared a big breakfast - $24. Pricey once again but the portion to me was huge. From my seat, I could also see the chef putting in a lot of effort on this plate of food and I must say the food was good! The bacon were caramelized and the bread toasted perfectly. Even the salad was tossed with just olive oil and a tinge of salt which I thought was something different as compared to the regular vinaigrette. The sausage was cheese sausage.
That was all we ordered but might be back again someday. Seems like a nice place to hang out.

The Orange Timber

Today was a pretty chill day, walking around, eating and reading my book! It has been a long time since I walked along Blk 85 market. I think the last time was during my sec sch days, on my way back to my grandma house after sch. Since I had breakfast there with my grandma today, I showed der the old sch cake shop where Cham and I bought a huge cream cake (not those fanciful ones we get these days) and finished it all by ourselves under the void deck! Der and I couldn't resist the temptation to buy a slice each :) Strawberry vs blueberry...Only $1.10 each. Those miniture ones that are sold at toast box cost $1.20 and they are only 1/3 the size of this! What a rip off for something nostalgia... Later in the evening, we decided to chill at The Orange Timber @ Tiong Bahru The Orange Timber is a cafe cum art gallery. The plates are bowl used were also meant to be something nostalgia once again... hah However, I use those cutlery at home too. There are like 3 sections to this small cafe

Pending Down My Thoughts for 2021

10.07pm, 31 Dec 2021.  The year 2021 is coming to an end. The year of Covid. The year we left LA and returned to Singapore for good. It has been 9 months since we got back but I still feel like it happened so recently. One of the Singaporean family we met in LA and hung out very often is in town to visit. Charlotte asked if we can return to LA together. She asked if we are really not going back anymore. We all miss LA a lot. Definitely much more than Moscow even though Moscow is a very memorable place too.  Spent the day at Sentosa, The Luge. Kiddos had a lot of fun despite the heat. I enjoyed myself a lot too and I am missing the times we hung out in LA. Thinking about them going back and us staying behind makes me a little sad. The kids still got along very well even though we have not met for sometime. Hopefully their friendship will remain as they continue to grow up. Recap of 2021 1. I realized I can bake.  2. I love making bread or trying to make food cute. 3. Mason stayed home
