Happy 28th!

We had a nice dinner last night for Der's pre birthday celebration. I feel bad for not preparing anything. I even had to ask him for suggestion on places to have dinner. Must admit I'm really very bo sim this year :( But dinner turned out to be very good! Our combined effort in choosing a place hah.

We decided on an Italian restaurant @ Portsdown road called Pietrasanta.
While waiting for our dinner to be served.
Our started was Parma ham wrapped with cheese.
Freshly baked warm focaccia bread. Perfect ~ Definitely worth ordering. We couldn't stop eating it.
For our mains, we ordered a spicy salami pizza and a Korobuta pork rack to share. The pizza was GOOOD. I love how the crust wasn't too thick and also a little crispy as well. The salami goes so well, we finished the entire pizza, leaving no crust behind.
The pork on the other hand was disappointing for der. It was just grilled over the fire with no sauces or what so ever on it. I guess we are too used to having sauces for our meat. I thought the original taste of the meat was pretty good and it was not as tough as it looks. Der insisted that Kurobuta pork should be much more tender. Well I guess the Italian's forte is still pizza and pasta?
Another of Italian's forte - Tiramisu. Great way to end the dinner. :)
Overall we love this restraunt. The food's good, the ambiance is good and the food is not too pricy. $115 for 2 of us including taxes.
Spotted a few other nice places along that area. Might be back to try soon! Hopefully before Der leaves for his posting at the end of the month to Sydney. :( I'm going to be all alone here... boo... I'm sure I'll miss him.

We ended the night holding lanterns hahah. Happy Mid Autumn Festival too.

The Orange Timber

Today was a pretty chill day, walking around, eating and reading my book! It has been a long time since I walked along Blk 85 market. I think the last time was during my sec sch days, on my way back to my grandma house after sch. Since I had breakfast there with my grandma today, I showed der the old sch cake shop where Cham and I bought a huge cream cake (not those fanciful ones we get these days) and finished it all by ourselves under the void deck! Der and I couldn't resist the temptation to buy a slice each :) Strawberry vs blueberry...Only $1.10 each. Those miniture ones that are sold at toast box cost $1.20 and they are only 1/3 the size of this! What a rip off for something nostalgia... Later in the evening, we decided to chill at The Orange Timber @ Tiong Bahru The Orange Timber is a cafe cum art gallery. The plates are bowl used were also meant to be something nostalgia once again... hah However, I use those cutlery at home too. There are like 3 sections to this small cafe

JetSaver Light Challenge - Penang Trip

A very big Thank You to Jetstar and JetSaver Light! We had an AWESOME trip. Not only was it a cultural and stomach full filling trip filled with nothing but one of the very best food :), we also experienced the affable nature of the people in Penang and most importantly, we made many friends to keep :) Below was the itinerary that got us selected. And we're proud to say that we completed everything mentioned and accomplished even more. Wednesday, 1st July  marks JetSaver Light inaugural flight to Penang and also our, team 4's (GO! Go! team 4!!), inaugural trip to Penang on Jetstar with a budget of SGD60. After the initial briefing and collecting of our SGD60 which we converted to  RM144 , we were all ready and excited to jet off. Checking out the duty free at terminal 1 before boarding . Upon our arrival at Penang, we were warmly welcomed by a group of local performers . A surprising start to the trip. A photo taken together with 2 of the performers outside Penang International
