Hot

The weather has been getting quite unbearable these days especially in the afternoons. It makes going out with a baby very difficult. As much as we would like Mason to get some sun, it is not ideal for a baby to be under the direct scorching sun for too long. We visited a farmer's market one weekend. Even though we enjoyed sampling all the fruits, we had to seek shelter in a shop to cool down after a while. Charlotte was complaining about perspiring and Mason's face was all red too. We did managed to buy some really delicious peaches for the week though as they are in season now and oh soooo sweet! For another weekend, we bravely attended an outdoor event. The Sesame Street Road trip. Their final stop is here in LA and we managed to snag some tickets. But boy was it hot. Strollers were not allowed in the event area. So we had to carry Mason and unfortunately Mason hates being carried for a long time. He detest the carrier. Totally unlike Charlotte who loves the...

2 Months Old

My Michelin baby :) Isn't that all we want to see when they are babies? Mason is getting stronger each day. He is in the 90th percentile according to his latest 2 months old check. Even though he is not able to play with his sister now, I can tell that they enjoy each other company and that Charlotte finds her own way to include him in her play time.

#mysonmasonleow Has Arrived

Mason Leow Yu Ming arrived on 21 April 2019 at 5.29am. It was a short and smooth delivery that left me feeling that the whole thing was unreal. I would not say the pain is lesser than my previous experience with Charlotte. But the short process made everything more bearable. I got up at 3am to give Charlotte her cough medicine as she was coughing quite badly. At 3.30am, I felt a little cramp and thought it was because my bladder was full. On the way to the toilet, a trickle of pee came out and I thought to myself, I should have gone to the toilet earlier! After returning to bed, I felt another cramp and decided to take my phone to time the cramps. There was a slight "leak" but I had no idea that it was my water bag. The cramps were about 10mins apart. At this moment, I was looking at insta and chatting with my friend Alene. She said this might be it! So I went back to bed and another cramp came. When I stood up this time, an uncontrollable flow of water came down my legs....

Almost There...

Baby's still sitting warmly in my tummy. Maybe it doesn't want to come out so early. He is afraid of who will come after the 1 month when my mum goes home hahah or more like I'm afraid. I'm still hoping everyday that the day doesn't come which I know I'm just deceiving myself. I still don't understand why Der would say that she really wants to come. All I heard gave me the vibe that she doesn't want to come. I had a check yesterday and I'm 3cm dilated. I don't feel anything but I'm a little worried whenever I'm outside. I wonder what happens if my water bag breaks or something. I didn't experience it the previous time so I'm always wondering if it'll be as dramatic as it is shown on tv. On the hindsight, my mum is here. Even though she gets on my nerves, at least I know that Charlotte will be well taken care of if I got to go to the hospital anytime. My mum is such a "clean" and kiam freak. She always has some co...

3 More Weeks

It's already April! My edd is 23 April. Where did time fly to? I feel that time past so quickly for this pregnancy. Everyone I meet now will ask if I'm ready. Actually I am not. Not in terms of material items for the baby but more like mentally I am not ready. I am not ready to have another person in my life and have more people come into my life to disrupt the current situation. I am so mobile now and have my own free time in the day. I feel so in control of everything I do. With a baby, parents coming over etc. I'm going to be restricted. I am going to have to account for my actions. I don't like it. But there's nothing I can do about it. I just have to take things in my stride. We did a last road trip this weekend and stayed in a beautiful airstream, thanks to a recommendation by my friend Nari. I have been hanging out with Charlotte's classmate's mum very often when she's in chinese school. I enjoy talking to her. The mum is a very nice Korean lady...

Count Down

1 more month to go and we are still undecided on the name for the baby. I think I had more feel when I was having Charlotte. This time round, time seemed to pass faster. Maybe it's because I am just preoccupied with Charlotte. No more reading up on baby stuff, reading specifically for the baby in the tummy, listening to classical music etc. who cares what freaking size the baby is every month. Wonder why we were so into it last time. In fact, nothing at all. I will just handle it as it comes along. Handling adults will probably be harder than handling a baby. I think I am more worried about Charlotte then anything else. I hope she'll be ok on the day I go to the hospital, the time I stay in the hospital and thereafter. Actually I think she will be fine as she has shown herself to be quite adaptable. She'll get used to it. Don't know why am I worrying. Just entice her with play and she will forget all about me. But this is something my mum is very bad at. All my mother...

Bad Start to the Year

I think I've been generally unhappy since the the start of the year and I'm still complaining. Bad start hah and I think there will be more to come esp. after the baby comes out. It is quite hard to be all HA HA happy happy with a baby in the house in the first place. In Jan, I went for a sugar test and failed it. Thus I had to go for a more detailed test which I passed in the end. So all is well. But it sux when the first test failed. Der had to rub it in by saying how much I've been eating and how I should stop eating blah blah. It was in the midst of us eating at Legoland and I just got pissed and stopped eating. It totally spoiled the trip. I can't help it if I'm hungry. In fact, I remember eating much more when I was pregnant with Charlotte. I just couldn't stop eating at that time and I had lots of junk food. This pregnancy on the other hand, I think I ate lesser but had more sugar. I didn't like anything sweet in the previous pregnancy. This time, I...

V Day

Such a deceiving title haha. I'm not celebrating Valentine's Day. I probably won't even remember today if Charlotte's school didn't ask the parents to prepare 21 V day cards for her classmates. My V day memories in the past all revolve around my girl friends. I think that's one plus points about being in a girl school. We get to celebrate on this particular day even if we don't have another half. We don't care about boys last time. We were so happy celebrating it among ourselves hah. We just called it friendship day and gave each other gifts like flowers, chocolates etc. anything that couples give each other. Those were the happiest and best times. In fact, I don't remember much of the celebrations after getting a partner. I'm too lazy to think hard about it anyway. Probably just dinner, flowers and gifts. After having a kid, dinner flowers and gifts became even more of a past. I know many couples still celebrate this day. We on the other hand ...

Ahhhh

peace and quiet at last. I've been loving the quiet time in the day when Charlotte's in school and the quiet time at night when she's asleep. Staring into space just seems pretty relaxing to me these days. I don't sleep at the same time with her but I will just lay down beside her and pretend to sleep hah. Der has been working at nights for the past few nights and I enjoy being "alone" in the house. Maybe coz I can just be quiet and do whatever I want to without anyone bothering me. Of course this means after Charlotte goes to bed. I also particularly like working out in the gym. It takes my mind off disturbing thoughts. I cannot run on the treadmill like before but I would brisk walk for at least 45 mins with an incline and do some weights thereafter. Ever since I got back from Singapore, I've been seeking solace in the gym for longer hours. Since we got back, we did try to soak up some of the CNY atmosphere here in LA. We decorated the house a little...
