Ahhhh

peace and quiet at last. I've been loving the quiet time in the day when Charlotte's in school and the quiet time at night when she's asleep. Staring into space just seems pretty relaxing to me these days. I don't sleep at the same time with her but I will just lay down beside her and pretend to sleep hah. Der has been working at nights for the past few nights and I enjoy being "alone" in the house. Maybe coz I can just be quiet and do whatever I want to without anyone bothering me. Of course this means after Charlotte goes to bed.

I also particularly like working out in the gym. It takes my mind off disturbing thoughts. I cannot run on the treadmill like before but I would brisk walk for at least 45 mins with an incline and do some weights thereafter. Ever since I got back from Singapore, I've been seeking solace in the gym for longer hours.

Since we got back, we did try to soak up some of the CNY atmosphere here in LA. We decorated the house a little.
While der misses CNY celebrations in Sin, I on the other hand am super glad we didn't go through it. I had such a bad experience with all the visitation on his side, I shudder at the thought. Of course it means missing my side of the celebration but I am ready to forgo it. For the past few days, whenever der FT his mum at midnight sin time and I see her still at some CNY visitation with all the gambling going on, I'm sooooo glad I'm not in Sin. I'm sure Charlotte would enjoy all the visitations because it means play all day. When no. 2 is out, I would have to go through it again. sigh.. inevitable. That's another disturbing thought for another time. I've enough for now.

When we got back, we met up with friends. Attended some CNY festivals here over the weekend.

The Alhambra CNY festival.
These piglets are so cute!
CNY celebration at Irvine Spectrum Centre.
We even got red packets with real $ inside!
How cool is that? I was pleasantly surprised as I expected a voucher or a fortune cookie inside the red packets.

I think this is about all for CNY. Up next will be Valentine's Day. I think these occasions become more prominent because of Charlotte. Her school will celebrate these occasions. Otherwise I doubt we will even remember them. I don't even remember the last time we bother about V day.

The Orange Timber

Today was a pretty chill day, walking around, eating and reading my book! It has been a long time since I walked along Blk 85 market. I think the last time was during my sec sch days, on my way back to my grandma house after sch. Since I had breakfast there with my grandma today, I showed der the old sch cake shop where Cham and I bought a huge cream cake (not those fanciful ones we get these days) and finished it all by ourselves under the void deck! Der and I couldn't resist the temptation to buy a slice each :) Strawberry vs blueberry...Only $1.10 each. Those miniture ones that are sold at toast box cost $1.20 and they are only 1/3 the size of this! What a rip off for something nostalgia... Later in the evening, we decided to chill at The Orange Timber @ Tiong Bahru The Orange Timber is a cafe cum art gallery. The plates are bowl used were also meant to be something nostalgia once again... hah However, I use those cutlery at home too. There are like 3 sections to this small cafe...

JetSaver Light Challenge - Penang Trip

A very big Thank You to Jetstar and JetSaver Light! We had an AWESOME trip. Not only was it a cultural and stomach full filling trip filled with nothing but one of the very best food :), we also experienced the affable nature of the people in Penang and most importantly, we made many friends to keep :) Below was the itinerary that got us selected. And we're proud to say that we completed everything mentioned and accomplished even more. Wednesday, 1st July  marks JetSaver Light inaugural flight to Penang and also our, team 4's (GO! Go! team 4!!), inaugural trip to Penang on Jetstar with a budget of SGD60. After the initial briefing and collecting of our SGD60 which we converted to  RM144 , we were all ready and excited to jet off. Checking out the duty free at terminal 1 before boarding . Upon our arrival at Penang, we were warmly welcomed by a group of local performers . A surprising start to the trip. A photo taken together with 2 of the performers outside Penang International...
