Our First Family Yoga Retreat...

was a success! It was a 4D3N retreat. I didn't know what to expect but it turned out to be a pretty chill and fun weekend especially for Charlotte. I think she really enjoyed herself. She even told me that she misses her friends when we were packing to leave the place. We did not managed a full group picture but this was majority of the people that gave us a good weekend :) Upon checking in our cabin, Charlotte immediately got excited in seeing a loft inside the cabin. She was just climbing up and down non stop. Day 2 started off with Yoga in the morning for the adults while the kids had their own activities like arts and craft and scavenger hunt. Derrick finally got to stretch his super stiff body. It was quite funny looking at him haha. I was glad that Charlotte got comfortable with the group real quick and had no problem hanging out the kids by herself. Her favourite friend was Aven. She was like a sweet big sister to her throughout the entire retreat. We also ...

Discipline

Charlotte's 2 weeks break from school just went by so quickly. She will be back to her Chinese school tomorrow for another 2 weeks before she starts her English preschool in Sep. Her schedule for her Chinese classes got to change once preschool starts as she will be attending school 5 days a week. We will figure something out then. For the previous Chinese camp, Charlotte went for a field trip to the Science Centre. I think these kind of places are perfect for field trips because the teachers will be around to do the explanations. I am a lazy mum who feels that it is very troublesome for me to read and then explain it back to them. However Charlotte always misbehaves during field trips. She becomes a sticky, lone ranger monster whenever I'm around. She refuses to follow the group, interact with her friends and even let her teachers touch her. When her teacher tries to lift her up to see an exhibit, she will start screaming "mummy! mummy!". She would start to whine...

Happy Fourth!

July 4th does not mean much to Singaporeans except probably the sale. But since we are here, must as well soak up the July 4th spirit. Charlotte and her little friend Isabelle, caught a small part of the parade and I think they enjoyed it. Charlotte was happily snacking, enjoying her free lolli and waving her pom pom. Some of the parade cars. Happy 4th!

Strawberry Farm

Before the strawberry season ends, we decided to pay a visit to Tanaka Farms. It is a really cute farm with Sanrio characters everywhere. We had more fun than expected. Charlotte definitely enjoyed the tour of the farm on the tractor and the picking of strawberries. On the tractor. We got to try a lot of fresh produce along the tour. To my surprise, a lot of veg could be eaten raw. Charlotte even ate a whole carrot by herself like a bunny. We paid $18 per adult for the tour. It includes a punnet where we could fill it up with strawberries. We were also allowed to eat as many strawberries as we can while we pick. I really liked the place. It is located in Irvine which is about an hour's drive from our place. However there are many good asian food in that area! We will probably make another trip there again as it is the melon season now. It will give us another excuse to be in the area to try more good asian food hah!

Cousins In Town

Charlotte's cousin, Bryant was in LA for a week and despite their love hate relationship, they had a blast playing together. Kids! one moment they are screaming at each other and crying, the next moment they can't leave each other's sight. They even had to go to the toilet together. Charlotte, being the younger one just copies her cousin Bryant all the time. From what he says to what he does. Even when she does not understands, she will just go on repeat mode. After desperately trying to copy the peace action, Charlotte is now able to do it and she is very proud of herself. Thus she loves doing it whenever she takes photos. Bryant's mum was telling me that he had Charlotte withdrawal symptoms when they got back to Singapore. He even woke up in the middle of the night saying that he misses Charlotte. Not sure about Charlotte though. But I am sure, she misses all his ipad action hah. I think it could be one of their favourite activity when they are together....

What We Got Up To In Sin

Fortunately for me, I have got parents who wake up very early in the mornings. This fits Charlotte's schedule perfectly. Due to the time difference, Charlotte's day usually starts at 4am. She will doze off at 10am for a couple of mins then stay awake till 2.30pm then sleep again all the way till 10pm. This gives me some time to go out for dinner with my friends and still be back in time when she wakes up. I was super tired though due to the lack of sleep. Parks were the main places Charlotte been to when we were in Singapore. Anyway, there were not a lot of places we can go to early in the morning. It is good though as the sun is not up yet. So we won't get burnt by the scorching Singapore sun. When in Sin, Charlotte got a bicycle from Gong Gong. So she was excited to go cycling everyday. Day 1 morning at Admiralty Park. It is also my first time there. I would not have gone all the way to woodlands at 6am if I did not have a jet lag kid with me. Charlotte definitely ...

Jet Lag

I think jet lag is one thing that I have googled and came up no solutions for it. Unlike adults who can try to self adjust, it's impossible for kids. It just takes time. We were back in Singapore for 1.5 weeks and it took Charlotte 1 week to adjust to Singapore's time. So once she adjusted on thurs, we had to return to LA on sat hah. And now that we are back, she had to re adjust again! Even though she has been sleeping so much, she is still so tired all the time. This was her when I came out of the showers the day before hahhaa This was her after her ballet class yesterday. Hand still inside her snack box. She was snoring so loudly, I could not bear to wake her up. I know she will adjust soon. Just waiting for the routine to be back on track again.
