Birthday present for myself this year... Not the classic design but I hope they are as comfortable! :)

Early Riser

I am usually an early riser on weekend mornings as I always go for my usual morning runs. Especially now after I signed up for the 42km marathon at the end of the year. However we decided to take a break this Sunday morning and have breakfast instead. Since der was on night shift, I have decided to break my routine and take a train all the way to Changi Business to meet him for breakfast at 830am. It is wierd how I always dread going there but when I no longer work there, I felt rather refreshed by the idea and I actually enjoyed the train ride. We made a trip to eggs & berries which is right in the new mall by CPB. Actually this place is under the Food Junction family. The concept resembles all the cafes I wrote about previously during my trip to Bandung. Not bad.. cosy feel to it.   Our breakfast Mine came with an extra sausage, pancake and french toast (around $13.50)  Der had the early riser set. Only available before 9am. Pretty good choice for ...

Chill Baby~

Night & Day is definitely a chill place for the artsy(maybe not so coz i'm there and i'm definitely far from being artsy). But it is really a one of a kind bar that reminds me of those underground parties in Gossip Girl. I like the non commercialize feel to it. So I'll leave it as such... a hidden gem which I'm sure not many would have taken notice of it despite the hugh sign by the road....

Arteastiq Tea Lounge

I really wanted to try out this place after walking pass it one day as it looks really beautiful inside. Although it says tea lounge, I've decided to go there for dinner instead to save the hassle of coming over for tea after dinner. There is nothing to rave about the dinner menu but the food was surprising better than expected though it is a little pricy to my standard. However I give them credit for the quirky name they came up for each dish. We ordered the Drunken Pirates - Pork shank ($23.90) Rebellious one - Ribeye ($24.90). I like my steak. The meat was done to my liking and it was tasty. The sweet jam sauce complimented the meat as well. However I thought they could serve a better salad rather than plain boiled mix vegetables. The highlight of the night, tea and desserts! We moved on to the more cosy, sofa setting side of the restaurant and immediately started ordering excitingly hah. Some pics while waiting.. As the name suggests, the tea lived up to its n...

Along Bukit Timah

I think I am probably the first few who will be blogging about this new restaurant now as we chanced upon it along Bukit Timah on their 3rd day of business. Little Diner Since der was captivated by the exterior, we decided to go check it out. All we could find online was that this is a New York concept restaurant, and the chef Micheal Quinn is from New York. Our food for the night: 1. Burger. (around $18)Looks really good! Even though we ordered medium rare, it was way too raw. Lowe was too nice to send it back. I would have if it was me. We noticed that there were people sending the food back into the kitchen. 2. Chicken breast. (around $19)I thought it tasted quite tender for chicken breast and the vegetables complement it totally and the dish looked like a really healthy dish. However der thinks it tasted like hainanese chicken rice. He just needs a bowl of rice hah 3. Fish and chips (I think it was $19.50). Portion was definitely new york portion. I only managed o...

Kombi Rocks

An impromptu Fri dinner ended up at Krombi Rocks Diner and I love it! To be honest, I was surprised that this place serves all the dishes one can find at a zi char stall (at a slightly higher price though). I was actually expecting more of a western fast food fare which can be found at most of the recent popped up theme cafes by young people. In any case, I was more captivated by the comfortable homely feel this restaurant restaurant gave me. On a friday night, this to me was a quiet no frill place with a lot of old school items all placed together. Retro~ Don't you think the colour of the place look like we went back into time?  No effect was done on this pic.   Even the drink came in a large glass jug ($5) For our food, we ordered: Handmade Thai Fish Cake - 3 pieces ($4)  Lychee pork ribs ($13) - there was only 1 lychee :( but the pork tasted good  Beef fried rice ($8) - enough for 2 pax   We spotted this blind spot mirror o...

Great Reads

A great series that I would definitely recommend to all :)

Korea Lodging

Since I'm slacking at home today, I've decided to blog more on the hotels from my Korea trip. I stayed in a couple of rather interesting places and I hope to remember them :) Hopefully it'll come in useful for people who plan to go to Korea as well. Hostel in Jeju - Green Day.  I thought the exterior looked so pretty! It is a cosy little hostel with a simple interior and very friendly staff. Breakfast is provided and a can of free fruit juice every night for people who stayed in the hostel.  Green Day's pet cat, Cashmere. I love him. He even bowed at me when I arrived! hah A pity I couldn't take a pic of it. I looked forward in playing with him every morning at breakfast.   I have to add another pic. He's cute!   Hotel in Seoul - Hotel Pop   This is a theme hotel and I managed to get the Hello Kitty room hahah Ok it's only the walls that has Hello Kitty pics on it but you get what you pay for. The real Hello Kitty them...
