Derrick's Birthday Dinner

Dinner for Derrick's birthday was at Bistro One Zero Three. A small cosy restaurant tucked along Pasir Panjang Road. To be honest, if der didn't bring me there, I would never have bother going in even if i walked past it.

It was a little different this year as der wanted to plan for his birthday instead of the other way round. Well, since I'm always the one introducing all the good food (even though he hardly appreciates food), it's high time he finds something! heh

For starters, we ordered the escargots. They were big and plump :) I specially love the sauce the escargots were in - a thick creamy sauce with cheese on top. Dip the garlic bread into the sauce... awww HEAVENLY... u just can't stop eating. Der ate 2 despite being scared haha*Tip* for small eaters, the escargots comes with 2 garlic bread. So don't have to order more. As we were not informed, we ordered another portion of garlic bread. Fortunately for us, the sauce was so heavenly, the extra bread came in handy. Oh and the garlic bread was very good too. I think everyone should try it.

The main course was Pork Neck and Crispy Duck Leg.

I choose the duck leg from just the initial looks of it, as the pork neck looked more like something der will order instead as the meat looked tough. I was horribly WRONG! Do not be deceived by it's outer appearance. It was the most tender 2 pieces of meat ever. I never knew pork could be so tender. Eat it together with the caramelized onion sauce. Amazing combination ~

My duck leg on the other hand was a tad disappointing. The sides of the duck was over cooked, leaving some parts too hard to eat. Thus the portion of the duck meat left for me to savour was vastly minimized. The extremely crispy duck skin and the well cooked vegetable sides did saved the dish though.

The meal ended with Panna Cotta, It was a fantastic choice!! The dessert was so smooth and rich, I wanted to lick up the bowl. I'm feeling hungry while typing this now...

Overall I feel like going back to try the pastas. I heard praises about it from the customers when I was eating over there :)

The Orange Timber

Today was a pretty chill day, walking around, eating and reading my book! It has been a long time since I walked along Blk 85 market. I think the last time was during my sec sch days, on my way back to my grandma house after sch. Since I had breakfast there with my grandma today, I showed der the old sch cake shop where Cham and I bought a huge cream cake (not those fanciful ones we get these days) and finished it all by ourselves under the void deck! Der and I couldn't resist the temptation to buy a slice each :) Strawberry vs blueberry...Only $1.10 each. Those miniture ones that are sold at toast box cost $1.20 and they are only 1/3 the size of this! What a rip off for something nostalgia... Later in the evening, we decided to chill at The Orange Timber @ Tiong Bahru The Orange Timber is a cafe cum art gallery. The plates are bowl used were also meant to be something nostalgia once again... hah However, I use those cutlery at home too. There are like 3 sections to this small cafe...

Having the Chills

If you, Derrick is ever reading this, I would suggest you close this page. It's my right to type whatever I want. I won't mince my words because this is my space. I hardly feel unwell and this not the best time to fall sick. Yet I'm having the chills. Whenever my boob hurts, I will start to get the chills and a little temperature. It had to come at the time when i'm feeling totally not in the mood to do anything. I think I should swallow a few more pills. What I had isn't enough. Guess feeling down really brings down one's immune system. We just got news that we will be moving back to Singapore and the first thing that came to my mind is F*** I've to face her. That fake face (literally fake. No amount of make up helps la. old means old. draw what draw) who pretends she doesn't care or even when we talk face to face she says no no it's ok. PUI! Der will be unhappy reading this but i blame it on him for making the situation like this. No amount of ...
