CNY in LA

Since we spent our Chinese New Year here in LA, we tried to source out places that has the most CNY atmosphere. The closest we got was a CNY event held by Charlotte's Chinese language school,  Ni Hao Chinese Language School.

There were many activities planned out for the kids. Charlotte had a lot of fun.

There was even a lion dance performance at the end. However Charlotte was too afraid to go near the moving lion for a pic.
Charlotte has been attending a parent and me class at the Chinese language school before our trip back to Singapore. Now, she is going to be upgraded to a 3 hours drop off class tomorrow morning. I am nervous yet excited for her. I have been explaining to her that she has to go to school with no mummy as she is growing up. She seemed to embrace the idea and is all excited about it. I wonder if she really understands what awaits her. Hopefully she won't be crying when I drop her off tomorrow at school or half way through class. She could be quite lost in class though as her Chinese standard is barely there hahah. Hope all turns out well! *cross my fingers*

The Orange Timber

Today was a pretty chill day, walking around, eating and reading my book! It has been a long time since I walked along Blk 85 market. I think the last time was during my sec sch days, on my way back to my grandma house after sch. Since I had breakfast there with my grandma today, I showed der the old sch cake shop where Cham and I bought a huge cream cake (not those fanciful ones we get these days) and finished it all by ourselves under the void deck! Der and I couldn't resist the temptation to buy a slice each :) Strawberry vs blueberry...Only $1.10 each. Those miniture ones that are sold at toast box cost $1.20 and they are only 1/3 the size of this! What a rip off for something nostalgia... Later in the evening, we decided to chill at The Orange Timber @ Tiong Bahru The Orange Timber is a cafe cum art gallery. The plates are bowl used were also meant to be something nostalgia once again... hah However, I use those cutlery at home too. There are like 3 sections to this small cafe...
