Happy 2018!

Happy New Year! First came Christmas, then New Year Day just flew passed. I also finally passed my driving test here in LA. I never thought I could pass as Der was always saying how lousy I was. But I managed to! Well at least I am legal to drive now. So when the time comes, I could if I needed to.

Christmas was spent with a group of Singaporeans. It felt good to know other fellow Singaporeans in a foreign country. Feels like I am back in Singapore again when I am surrounded by people who speak in the same accent as me.

Unlike Moscow, the Singaporean community here is not as closely knitted. There are just too many Singaporeans here and the place is too big. We all do not live very close by. Hopefully friendships will blossom and I will make new Singaporean friends like the friends I made in Moscow.

New Year eve was not a very exciting day. We spent the last 3 days of 2017 in Las Vegas (it'll be a separate entry) and when we got back, the kiddo fell sick followed by the adults. We spent New Year's eve and New Year's day chilling at home. But I did managed to hit the gym twice because Der was nursing a fever at home. Thus I had someone to watch over Charlotte while she naps. I was pretty happy about it. Felt good to be able to do some real running again.

The Orange Timber

Today was a pretty chill day, walking around, eating and reading my book! It has been a long time since I walked along Blk 85 market. I think the last time was during my sec sch days, on my way back to my grandma house after sch. Since I had breakfast there with my grandma today, I showed der the old sch cake shop where Cham and I bought a huge cream cake (not those fanciful ones we get these days) and finished it all by ourselves under the void deck! Der and I couldn't resist the temptation to buy a slice each :) Strawberry vs blueberry...Only $1.10 each. Those miniture ones that are sold at toast box cost $1.20 and they are only 1/3 the size of this! What a rip off for something nostalgia... Later in the evening, we decided to chill at The Orange Timber @ Tiong Bahru The Orange Timber is a cafe cum art gallery. The plates are bowl used were also meant to be something nostalgia once again... hah However, I use those cutlery at home too. There are like 3 sections to this small cafe...

JetSaver Light Challenge - Penang Trip

A very big Thank You to Jetstar and JetSaver Light! We had an AWESOME trip. Not only was it a cultural and stomach full filling trip filled with nothing but one of the very best food :), we also experienced the affable nature of the people in Penang and most importantly, we made many friends to keep :) Below was the itinerary that got us selected. And we're proud to say that we completed everything mentioned and accomplished even more. Wednesday, 1st July  marks JetSaver Light inaugural flight to Penang and also our, team 4's (GO! Go! team 4!!), inaugural trip to Penang on Jetstar with a budget of SGD60. After the initial briefing and collecting of our SGD60 which we converted to  RM144 , we were all ready and excited to jet off. Checking out the duty free at terminal 1 before boarding . Upon our arrival at Penang, we were warmly welcomed by a group of local performers . A surprising start to the trip. A photo taken together with 2 of the performers outside Penang International...
