Helsinki

Unfortunately for us, the weather was bad on the day we were to take the ferry to Helsinki from Tallinn. We arrived at the port and was told that the 12pm ferry was cancelled. The next ferry departs at 6pm. The suggestion was to catch another ferry that departs in 20 mins time and it will take about 10 mins to walk over to the other port. Even though it was raining, we decided to try our luck and walked as fast as possible to try and catch the ferry. Luck was on our side, as we managed to catch it. It was a slower ferry. Instead of 1.5hrs, this ferry took 2.5hrs. However it was more of a cruise then a ferry. Charlotte seemed happy about it as there was a play corner on board that could keep her entertained.
Despite the large ship, the choppy waters made us a little sick. Even Charlotte threw up all of a sudden. But she continued playing like nothing happened after she threw up.

We did not do much in Helsinki. Mainly just walking around and as usual, looked for places to keep Charlotte occupied. We found Children's Town a very good place for kids. Entrance is free and children can touch everything in there. The older kids will enjoy role playing there too.

Market Square is another nice place to take a stroll and have some food.
We tasted the traditional Finnish salmon soup. Both the cream version and the clear broth version. Both were delicious.
Charlotte had some salmon but in general, she was kept happy whenever she had a bread in hand to munch on.
This pretty much sums up our 2 days in Helsinki. Charlotte was happily jumping around on the train seat as we headed off to the airport. Happy Charlotte = Happy parents. Till the next trip!

The Orange Timber

Today was a pretty chill day, walking around, eating and reading my book! It has been a long time since I walked along Blk 85 market. I think the last time was during my sec sch days, on my way back to my grandma house after sch. Since I had breakfast there with my grandma today, I showed der the old sch cake shop where Cham and I bought a huge cream cake (not those fanciful ones we get these days) and finished it all by ourselves under the void deck! Der and I couldn't resist the temptation to buy a slice each :) Strawberry vs blueberry...Only $1.10 each. Those miniture ones that are sold at toast box cost $1.20 and they are only 1/3 the size of this! What a rip off for something nostalgia... Later in the evening, we decided to chill at The Orange Timber @ Tiong Bahru The Orange Timber is a cafe cum art gallery. The plates are bowl used were also meant to be something nostalgia once again... hah However, I use those cutlery at home too. There are like 3 sections to this small cafe...

Having the Chills

If you, Derrick is ever reading this, I would suggest you close this page. It's my right to type whatever I want. I won't mince my words because this is my space. I hardly feel unwell and this not the best time to fall sick. Yet I'm having the chills. Whenever my boob hurts, I will start to get the chills and a little temperature. It had to come at the time when i'm feeling totally not in the mood to do anything. I think I should swallow a few more pills. What I had isn't enough. Guess feeling down really brings down one's immune system. We just got news that we will be moving back to Singapore and the first thing that came to my mind is F*** I've to face her. That fake face (literally fake. No amount of make up helps la. old means old. draw what draw) who pretends she doesn't care or even when we talk face to face she says no no it's ok. PUI! Der will be unhappy reading this but i blame it on him for making the situation like this. No amount of ...

Bigger Issue

Now a bigger issue has risen for us to worry about. Due to unfortunate circumstances, LA seems to be going through an apocalypse. Everyone is told to stay at home. Schools, libraries, malls, everything is closed. No more dine in restaurants, only take out and delivery. Only shops that are open are mainly grocery stores and there are either limited food choices or there are queues to get in so as to ensure "social distancing". This "social distancing" is the in word now. I am not very sure about this term. But the distancing sux. It's so quiet everywhere, I feel like a zombie would appear in front of me any moment.  I just got news that even playgrounds will be closed starting tomorrow. How scary is that? Even though it has been scary going to the playground these days because we always end up being the only family there, at least the kids get to run a round a bit.  It is tough staying home with 2 kids. I feel frustrated and a bit lost. I don't want Ch...
