Japan Part 2

I'm back to blog. I know it has been quite awhile. I've been busy playing with my new iPhone these days hah. It's really not as hard as I thought it will be. But it's definitely not as msg friendly as the normal phone. I can't multi task as much now....maybe i'll get use to it soon.

Back to Japan... I woke up early in the morning on the 2nd day hoping not to waste any time. This is the view from my bedside. Pretty cool huh? (I was sleeping on a double deck bed).
Day 2: Osaka. It was just a 20 mins ride from Kyoto to Osaka. Eka is addicted to the gummy sweets in Japan. She practically eats a pack every morning.

While looking for breakfast at Osaka, we came across the statue of a Billiken. It is said that if you tickle the sole of the statue, your wish will come true!

Japan is packed with stalls selling all sorts of Bento sets, I couldn't resist the temptation to buy something again!

Sumiyoshi Shrine.

We also had the best grapes! It was bought at a road side stall outside of the shrine. The grapes were exactly like gummy sweets. I loveeeee them.

Inside the shrine.

After one shrine, we wasted no time to shop! Shopping at Osaka is cheaper as compared to Tokyo. At one of the main shopping street in Osaka, Shinsaibashi. All the accesories were soo cute. And i was tempted to get boots! Those cute furry ones but they're so impractical in Singapore.

The famous TakoPachi stall. The queue was so long.

We met the group of Singaporeans staying at the same hostel as us.

Anyway, the day's really short in Japan. By 6pm, it is this dark...

Day 3: Himeji Castle.
We nv manage to catch the train that we made reservation for. So we ended up strolling and taking pics along the way

Breakfast was ramen that required us to pay first using the ticket machine. I like it. It's fun! heh We had a little trouble trying to match the Jap words to those on the machine heh.

The main wing of Himeji Castle.

View from the top.

South wing. We did not walk around though as we were pretty exhausted from the 3 hrs walk just for the main wing! The place is massive.

On the way to Gion, hoping to catch a geisha. But we were too late.

Day 4: Kyoto's Kiyomizudera Temple

The must try: Tofu. Yummy~~ Smooth and silky...

The famous love stones. According to the legend, if you were to walk with eyes closed from one stone to the other, u'll be able to meet ur other half soon. Well, Ven tried it immediately!! *tsk tsk* hahah we'll see if the legend is true :)

We had more food along the way... Actually, I was busy looking for the Pau by a fat ah ma. Tutz is this the pau??

Check out the train queue. Everyone look the same! haha All in Black suit.

Next stop, Tokyo....

The Orange Timber

Today was a pretty chill day, walking around, eating and reading my book! It has been a long time since I walked along Blk 85 market. I think the last time was during my sec sch days, on my way back to my grandma house after sch. Since I had breakfast there with my grandma today, I showed der the old sch cake shop where Cham and I bought a huge cream cake (not those fanciful ones we get these days) and finished it all by ourselves under the void deck! Der and I couldn't resist the temptation to buy a slice each :) Strawberry vs blueberry...Only $1.10 each. Those miniture ones that are sold at toast box cost $1.20 and they are only 1/3 the size of this! What a rip off for something nostalgia... Later in the evening, we decided to chill at The Orange Timber @ Tiong Bahru The Orange Timber is a cafe cum art gallery. The plates are bowl used were also meant to be something nostalgia once again... hah However, I use those cutlery at home too. There are like 3 sections to this small cafe...

JetSaver Light Challenge - Penang Trip

A very big Thank You to Jetstar and JetSaver Light! We had an AWESOME trip. Not only was it a cultural and stomach full filling trip filled with nothing but one of the very best food :), we also experienced the affable nature of the people in Penang and most importantly, we made many friends to keep :) Below was the itinerary that got us selected. And we're proud to say that we completed everything mentioned and accomplished even more. Wednesday, 1st July  marks JetSaver Light inaugural flight to Penang and also our, team 4's (GO! Go! team 4!!), inaugural trip to Penang on Jetstar with a budget of SGD60. After the initial briefing and collecting of our SGD60 which we converted to  RM144 , we were all ready and excited to jet off. Checking out the duty free at terminal 1 before boarding . Upon our arrival at Penang, we were warmly welcomed by a group of local performers . A surprising start to the trip. A photo taken together with 2 of the performers outside Penang International...
