Back to Reality...Slowly...

I think I'm being thrown back to the harsh reality toooo fast *whineeee* After the amazing one week break, i'm totally not in the mood for work. In addition, i was met with the many unhappy faces early in the morning. Everyone dreads Monday esp even more when we moved. But they were glad to have me back as everyone started updating me and bitching haha. Those were the only time they laughed away.

Can't bring myself to complain too much about work now. It only drags my motivation level lower. But as management gets jittery, it just annoys staff more and give us more room to complain. Well this's definately not the right channel to say too much. I doubt there's any channel anyway.

Moving on to a happier note. Updates on my trip! :) Vietnam is a place where all i do was to eat and drink coffee. And it's also a place for veg lovers haha. There's definately veg in every dish. Raw veg!! haha even I do not eat them. There's practically a cafe everywhere you turn. Shopping wise.. nothing much. Bangkok still beats them hands down heh.

Our first day was spent on an island called Vung Tau. We had to take this boat called a Hydrofoil for a one and a half hr ride over.
In the hydrofoil

Vung Tau is a very nice beach place and very serene as compared to the city. We even rented a bike to move around the small island. However, the people there can't really speak english. I even had to resort to drawing to the lobby staff. It was quite hilarious.

Walking down the peaceful street

The food we ate on the first day only! The seafood by the roadside was simply fantastic and super cheap!! The scallops were sooo fresh and yummy. I'm drooling as I type now. They only cost 50cents for 1 scallop.

There was also a large variety of fruits there and they were cheap too. I bought some custard apples :)

Chilling in a cafe in Vung Tau

One of the attraction there is the Jesus statue

The view from the top is horrendously scary. It was so high, I got cold feet from looking down. I've no idea how i took this pic...probably with my eyes closed hah.
The beautiful beach

Back in Ho Chi Minh City, we decided to visit a restaurant called Hoa Tuc, when it started pouring suddenly. It caught us by surprised as we did not expect the place to be so posh. We were definately under dressed! I felt a bit embarrased. Nontheless, the food was fabulous. The best ever throughout our whole trip.

Also tried the highly recommended Quan an ngon (Quan means delicious in vietnamese). Think it's overated. But maybe it's the stuff i ordered as most of my initial choices were gone.

The Palace

One day trip to the Mekong Delta. It is a trip worth going. Highly recommended to all who's visiting Ho Chi Minh. We get to sit in different kinds of transports and also taste some of their local products.

Horse Ride

Tasting their local fruits and having a cup of tea

Coconut candy making process

Changing from the motor boat to a boat that is rowed by 2 people. One in the font and one at the back.

The Orange Timber

Today was a pretty chill day, walking around, eating and reading my book! It has been a long time since I walked along Blk 85 market. I think the last time was during my sec sch days, on my way back to my grandma house after sch. Since I had breakfast there with my grandma today, I showed der the old sch cake shop where Cham and I bought a huge cream cake (not those fanciful ones we get these days) and finished it all by ourselves under the void deck! Der and I couldn't resist the temptation to buy a slice each :) Strawberry vs blueberry...Only $1.10 each. Those miniture ones that are sold at toast box cost $1.20 and they are only 1/3 the size of this! What a rip off for something nostalgia... Later in the evening, we decided to chill at The Orange Timber @ Tiong Bahru The Orange Timber is a cafe cum art gallery. The plates are bowl used were also meant to be something nostalgia once again... hah However, I use those cutlery at home too. There are like 3 sections to this small cafe...

JetSaver Light Challenge - Penang Trip

A very big Thank You to Jetstar and JetSaver Light! We had an AWESOME trip. Not only was it a cultural and stomach full filling trip filled with nothing but one of the very best food :), we also experienced the affable nature of the people in Penang and most importantly, we made many friends to keep :) Below was the itinerary that got us selected. And we're proud to say that we completed everything mentioned and accomplished even more. Wednesday, 1st July  marks JetSaver Light inaugural flight to Penang and also our, team 4's (GO! Go! team 4!!), inaugural trip to Penang on Jetstar with a budget of SGD60. After the initial briefing and collecting of our SGD60 which we converted to  RM144 , we were all ready and excited to jet off. Checking out the duty free at terminal 1 before boarding . Upon our arrival at Penang, we were warmly welcomed by a group of local performers . A surprising start to the trip. A photo taken together with 2 of the performers outside Penang International...
