Little Random Details About Me

Charlotte has officially started pre school. Her first week was great. She went out full force on her very first day when she was all pumped up. Pre school in the morning followed by Chinese classes in the afternoon. She was talking about it all weekend and seemed all ready. I was very pleased with her first day. 8am-3pm for preschool, followed by 3.30pm-5pm for Chinese class. Initially, I was worried that she will be tired out. But she proved me wrong. She still went to bed at 9pm at night. She came home in high spirits, singing and dancing away the entire night. So far, she did not cry at all at drop off. However her enthusiasm is dying off as the days go by and it has only been a week! She would demand big hug and kisses forever before letting me go these days. But at least she's not crying. I hope she will grow to love school more as the days go by. The school took some really nice pictures of Charlotte on her first week.

A week after our yoga retreat, we went for another little getaway. This time on a cruise. To be specific, we went for the carnival cruise. It took us from Long Beach to Ensenada. It was our first time on a cruise as a family. Everyone is always saying that a cruise is a perfect trip for families with kids so we decided to give it a try. Well minus the little bit of sea sickness that Charlotte and I felt, it would be a better trip haha. I could see Charlotte's energy level going down on the second day when the sea was a little choppy. She still managed to eat a lot though which was fortunate. So basically, we ate non stop on the cruise. I think that is what cruise are all about. This was Charlotte, getting all pumped about getting on a cruise. But I think she never quite understood that she was actually on a very big ship all along. She saw those life boats hanging on the side of the ship and kept asking if we are getting on it hahaha. was a success! It was a 4D3N retreat. I didn't know what to expect but it turned out to be a pretty chill and fun weekend especially for Charlotte. I think she really enjoyed herself. She even told me that she misses her friends when we were packing to leave the place. We did not managed a full group picture but this was majority of the people that gave us a good weekend :) Upon checking in our cabin, Charlotte immediately got excited in seeing a loft inside the cabin. She was just climbing up and down non stop. Day 2 started off with Yoga in the morning for the adults while the kids had their own activities like arts and craft and scavenger hunt. Derrick finally got to stretch his super stiff body. It was quite funny looking at him haha. I was glad that Charlotte got comfortable with the group real quick and had no problem hanging out the kids by herself. Her favourite friend was Aven. Charlotte's 2 weeks break from school just went by so quickly. She will be back to her Chinese school tomorrow for another 2 weeks before she starts her English preschool in Sep. Her schedule for her Chinese classes got to change once preschool starts as she will be attending school 5 days a week. We will figure something out then. For the previous Chinese camp, Charlotte went for a field trip to the Science Centre. I think these kind of places are perfect for field trips because the teachers will be around to do the explanations. I am a lazy mum who feels that it is very troublesome for me to read and then explain it back to them. However Charlotte always misbehaves during field trips. She becomes a sticky, lone ranger monster whenever I'm around. She refuses to follow the group, interact with her friends and even let her teachers touch her. When her teacher tries to lift her up to see an exhibit, she will start screaming "mummy! mummy!". She would start to whine...

July 4th does not mean much to Singaporeans except probably the sale. But since we are here, must as well soak up the July 4th spirit. Charlotte and her little friend Isabelle, caught a small part of the parade and I think they enjoyed it. Charlotte was happily snacking, enjoying her free lolli and waving her pom pom. Before the strawberry season ends, we decided to pay a visit to Tanaka Farms. It is a really cute farm with Sanrio characters everywhere. We had more fun than expected. Charlotte definitely enjoyed the tour of the farm on the tractor and the picking of strawberries. On the tractor. We got to try a lot of fresh produce along the tour. To my surprise, a lot of veg could be eaten raw. Charlotte even ate a whole carrot by herself like a bunny. We paid $18 per adult for the tour. It includes a punnet where we could fill it up with strawberries. We were also allowed to eat as many strawberries as we can while we pick. I really liked the place. It is located in Irvine which is about an hour's drive from our place. However there are many good asian food in that area! We will probably make another trip there again as it is the melon season now. It will give us another excuse to be in the area to try more good asian food hah!
