Cruise

A week after our yoga retreat, we went for another little getaway. This time on a cruise. To be specific, we went for the carnival cruise. It took us from Long Beach to Ensenada. It was our first time on a cruise as a family. Everyone is always saying that a cruise is a perfect trip for families with kids so we decided to give it a try. Well minus the little bit of sea sickness that Charlotte and I felt, it would be a better trip haha. I could see Charlotte's energy level going down on the second day when the sea was a little choppy. She still managed to eat a lot though which was fortunate. So basically, we ate non stop on the cruise. I think that is what cruise are all about.

This was Charlotte, getting all pumped about getting on a cruise. But I think she never quite understood that she was actually on a very big ship all along. She saw those life boats hanging on the side of the ship and kept asking if we are getting on it hahaha.
We chose a room with a window. Definitely beats a totally enclosed room. At least we had natural light streaming in.
We went on the trip with a fellow Singaporean family. We are glad to have them as company. Charlotte loves being around other kids and Rui Ying is definitely top on her list to hang out with. She totally takes her role as a big sister very seriously.
On the top deck.
Besides the big water slides, some other activities were the mini golf and story time for the kids. We tried our luck at BINGO twice but no luck...
There was a formal night too where we got to "dress up" a little haha. The other guest took the night very seriously. In gowns and suits whereas for us... hahah we just tried to get into something slightly more put together rather than just shorts and t shirts.
Even though Charlotte wasn't feeling her best that night, we was on her best behaviour. She managed to sit through the slow dinner and ate her food.

For the stop over at Ensenada, we did not book any trips. We just went down the ship to take a walk on land. A pic of us taken by the profession photographer. We did not buy the pic in the end hah.
The 2 cute babes
There was nothing much there. Mostly food stalls. But we did managed to visit a museum and tried some Mexican bread that I was told can only be found in Mexico. Charlotte and Rui Ying also managed to let out some of their energy at the playground too.
Spotted a lady with her pet pig on her shoulder haha.
The girls and their daddies.
I think a 3D2N trip is enough for a cruise. I think any longer, it would get too boring. Both food and activities wise.

The Orange Timber

Today was a pretty chill day, walking around, eating and reading my book! It has been a long time since I walked along Blk 85 market. I think the last time was during my sec sch days, on my way back to my grandma house after sch. Since I had breakfast there with my grandma today, I showed der the old sch cake shop where Cham and I bought a huge cream cake (not those fanciful ones we get these days) and finished it all by ourselves under the void deck! Der and I couldn't resist the temptation to buy a slice each :) Strawberry vs blueberry...Only $1.10 each. Those miniture ones that are sold at toast box cost $1.20 and they are only 1/3 the size of this! What a rip off for something nostalgia... Later in the evening, we decided to chill at The Orange Timber @ Tiong Bahru The Orange Timber is a cafe cum art gallery. The plates are bowl used were also meant to be something nostalgia once again... hah However, I use those cutlery at home too. There are like 3 sections to this small cafe...

JetSaver Light Challenge - Penang Trip

A very big Thank You to Jetstar and JetSaver Light! We had an AWESOME trip. Not only was it a cultural and stomach full filling trip filled with nothing but one of the very best food :), we also experienced the affable nature of the people in Penang and most importantly, we made many friends to keep :) Below was the itinerary that got us selected. And we're proud to say that we completed everything mentioned and accomplished even more. Wednesday, 1st July  marks JetSaver Light inaugural flight to Penang and also our, team 4's (GO! Go! team 4!!), inaugural trip to Penang on Jetstar with a budget of SGD60. After the initial briefing and collecting of our SGD60 which we converted to  RM144 , we were all ready and excited to jet off. Checking out the duty free at terminal 1 before boarding . Upon our arrival at Penang, we were warmly welcomed by a group of local performers . A surprising start to the trip. A photo taken together with 2 of the performers outside Penang International...
