Best Yu Sheng Art

This was the best Yu Sheng Derrick and I made this year. I love it, everyone was impressed by it and it tasted good too! We were both shrieking and giving each other the high-5 at home when the image was slowly formed hahah. As the Chinese New Year come to a close, I hope everyone had a great new year and an even better one ahead.

Happy Chinese New Year

Happy CNY! This is the second year that we are not in Singapore for Chinese New Year. Last year was spent in Cairo and this year we are in Moscow. Even though CNY is not a festival that is celebrated in Moscow, we are fortunate to have a handful of Singaporeans here to celebrate the new year with us. We even made the effort to decorate our walls and play CNY music at times hah. For reunion dinner, I specially whipped up some dishes and tried to make them look as festive as possible. We had imperial treasure soup with lots of goodies like abalone inside the soup :), fish, veg, roast pork, ngohiong, salad prawn and lap cheong. We even displayed our creative flair by attempting our yearly homemade Yu Sheng. The best has yet to come. This is just a trial piece. The main event will be up this Sun hah Can't wait for more steamboat and Lo Hei during the weekend!

Staycation

Coming back to Singapore feels like a holiday to me now and having a staycation made it even more like a holiday. Thanks to my dear friend, we spoilt ourselves with a stay over at Capella for 1 night and an awesome luxurious meal at Fat Cow. It was a spontaneous effort and VIOLA... we managed to grab 2 of our friends over to chill with us in the day.  We chose the room with the garden view. The sofa itself can sleep 2 adults. Upon checking in, we spent most of the day taking pictures in the room as well as chilling at Bob's Bar. It has been a long time since all 4 of us met up together. We had so much fun that we all agreed that we should make the effort to meet up every time I am in Singapore.  3 of us used to hang out so much back in our SAC days. We had peacocks as company too as they were eyeing the nuts on the table. After chilling, we headed over to Fat Cow for dinner. The food was fantastic... but of course it came at a price. Definitely somewhere ...

-18 degrees?!?

-18 degrees was the coldest I have experienced so far. My face went red the moment I stepped out and it was a little hard to breathe. We had planned to do some ice skating to warm up our body but the planned failed as the rink is closed between 2pm-5pm everyday. We ended up playing a slide and running to the mall to get some warmth. There was a Raffaello event at Gorky Park that day so we had our share of fun at the slides. We were supposed to get the pictures of us sliding down but they are still not available on the website yet. There was a beautiful Christmas theme set up beside the slides too.

New York

7 days in New York... It does sound a little long. I guess we could have squeezed in another state but we were too lazy to do so. I enjoy taking it easy these days instead of having a super packed itinerary where we need to be rushing all the time. Having said so, New York is a place where there is always things to do. Even with 7 days, there were still places or things that we have yet to cover. For lodging, we stayed in W New York which is very near the Grand Central Station. Even though we arrived late at night, our room was not ready when we arrived, we were given a complimentary drink at the bar to chill while waiting. Since it was late, we just hopped over to Grand Central Station to grab some food for dinner. As usual the station is bustling with people. Needless to say... we headed straight to Shake Shack. Super Shiok~ Being in New York meant seeing Starbucks everywhere and everyone seemed to be walking around with a cup of Starbucks. We were no exception...
