The rest of Austria

We rented a car in Vienna for our road trip to explore the other towns in Austria. The first stop was Krems (lower austria), about 70 km west of Vienna.

Standing in front of Steiner Tor, a preserved gate built in the 15th century. This is considered the symbol of the city of Krems. There are lots of shops and restaurants along this stretch.
We stopped over for lunch and had a taste of Austria's beef goulash.
On our journey towards St. Wolfgang, we drove past many wine yards in Wachau.

We stumbled upon a truck BBQ-ing delicious mackerel. This fish only cost us 4euros and the lady kindly gave us 2 pieces of bread. I wished I had the stomach for another fish.
We made a pit stop at Dunabe Valley where everyone was frolicking in the waters, hoping to catch the last glimpse of sunlight before the dark clouds loom over.
It started drizzling thereafter but we made it safe and sound to our lodging along Lake Wolfgangsee. This was where we stayed for a night and it oversees the lake.
The lake is beautiful at night but I am not able to fully capture the beauty with my camera. It was so peaceful and tranquil at night.
In the day, it looked as captivating and magical.
St Wolfgang is a small little town that can be covered easily on foot. It is very relaxing just to stroll along the small streets and looking at the small little shops.
The famous White horse Inn, made popular due to the musical comedy.
From St. Wolfgang, we made our way back to Wachau where we stayed for another night before heading back to Vienna. Along the way, we stopped over at Salzburg, the fourth largest city in Austria. One will also relate Salzburg to The Sound of Music as well as the birth place of Mozart.
The image of Mozart can be seen everywhere, with cafes and shops selling everything that is related to Mozart.
Mozart's birth place. This museum was packed with tourist.
We strolled along Salzach which is the main river in the Austria state of Salzburg.
Salzburg is a vibrant city with lots to do and see. However due to time constraint, tt was only a short stop over for us. At least we had a feel of what Salzburg is like. From here, we continued our drive towards Vienna. We stayed a night at Wachau, a place in lower Austria known for its high quality wines
Arriving at our guesthouse.
We read many good reviews on the restaurant of our guesthouse and we were not disappointed. I had a wonderful meal comprising of 3 different fishes which I still do not know what I ate haha. We asked the waitress about the fishes but they were not names we were familiar with.
Derrick enjoying the wine of Wachau
Dessert was something different too and it was oohhh so delicious. We had their signature Apricot Tiramisu. Apricots was in season when we were in Wachau. This is definitely a must try when dining at the restaurant.
This was a very good impromptu trip and but like i always say, I just enjoying going anywhere with Derrick haha.

The Orange Timber

Today was a pretty chill day, walking around, eating and reading my book! It has been a long time since I walked along Blk 85 market. I think the last time was during my sec sch days, on my way back to my grandma house after sch. Since I had breakfast there with my grandma today, I showed der the old sch cake shop where Cham and I bought a huge cream cake (not those fanciful ones we get these days) and finished it all by ourselves under the void deck! Der and I couldn't resist the temptation to buy a slice each :) Strawberry vs blueberry...Only $1.10 each. Those miniture ones that are sold at toast box cost $1.20 and they are only 1/3 the size of this! What a rip off for something nostalgia... Later in the evening, we decided to chill at The Orange Timber @ Tiong Bahru The Orange Timber is a cafe cum art gallery. The plates are bowl used were also meant to be something nostalgia once again... hah However, I use those cutlery at home too. There are like 3 sections to this small cafe...
