Kuching

Welcome to Kuching!! The Kuching's famous cat statues...

Decided to pay Kuching a visit since there was a promotion on Expedia Singapore and I've never been there before even though it is so near to Singapore. 3 Nights stay at Pullman Kuching (a new 5 star Hotel) + flight only cost us $173. If you were to ask me what to do at Kuching? I will say food since Malaysia is all about food and out door activities that are close to nature.

Food wise, the 3 must try:
1. Laksa - Less creamy version of Singapore's Laksa

2. Kolo Mee. Nette thought it was too dry for her liking.

3. Midin (Jungle fern). My fav! I don't think we have this in Singapore. We had ours fried with red wine. The veg is very smooth.

We were also glad we managed to find time to chill out at 2 very cool restaurants which happened to be near our hotel.

Don't be deceived by the exterior.. The interior was amazing... I love how we had to walk through the connecting steps on water hah

My pandan green tea was delicious

Needless to say, the food cost double the prices as compared to those in the coffee shops. However if you were to convert it back, it's still cheaper than what you will expect to pay in Singapore. Furthermore, the portion is pretty pig and the quality and presentation is really good. Definitely worth visiting if anyone of you goes to Kuching.

The other cafe was backstage, just behind Junk. Apparently all 3 are under the same family. I love the interior as well.

My initial purpose of this trip was to visit the caves which I read about in a magazine. The Wind and Fairy caves. The wind cave was really dark and was filled with bats. I must say it gave me goosebumps.

Bats. Photo taken with the help of a torch shining at them.

In fact, my fav part of the trip was the trekking at Bako National Park.

Certain parts of the trail can be a little tough but it's no where near the trail of Mt Kinabalu.

I love the beach at the end of the trail.

The sky line is amazing. I simply love the clear blue sky.

We were fortunate to meet a french couple, where we decided to share a boat to move around instead of trekking all the way to various spots.

Without the boat, we won't be abt to catch one of the icon.. .the sea stack up close. It resembles a sea serpent from certain angle.

We also managed to catch some wild life like the wild boar

Proboscis

Some other kind of monkey

That's abt it for our Kuching trip. We rewarded ourselves with chocolate cakes and yummy drinks at the end of the day

The Orange Timber

Today was a pretty chill day, walking around, eating and reading my book! It has been a long time since I walked along Blk 85 market. I think the last time was during my sec sch days, on my way back to my grandma house after sch. Since I had breakfast there with my grandma today, I showed der the old sch cake shop where Cham and I bought a huge cream cake (not those fanciful ones we get these days) and finished it all by ourselves under the void deck! Der and I couldn't resist the temptation to buy a slice each :) Strawberry vs blueberry...Only $1.10 each. Those miniture ones that are sold at toast box cost $1.20 and they are only 1/3 the size of this! What a rip off for something nostalgia... Later in the evening, we decided to chill at The Orange Timber @ Tiong Bahru The Orange Timber is a cafe cum art gallery. The plates are bowl used were also meant to be something nostalgia once again... hah However, I use those cutlery at home too. There are like 3 sections to this small cafe...

JetSaver Light Challenge - Penang Trip

A very big Thank You to Jetstar and JetSaver Light! We had an AWESOME trip. Not only was it a cultural and stomach full filling trip filled with nothing but one of the very best food :), we also experienced the affable nature of the people in Penang and most importantly, we made many friends to keep :) Below was the itinerary that got us selected. And we're proud to say that we completed everything mentioned and accomplished even more. Wednesday, 1st July  marks JetSaver Light inaugural flight to Penang and also our, team 4's (GO! After the initial briefing and collecting of our SGD60 which we converted to  RM144 , we were all ready and excited to jet off. Checking out the duty free at terminal 1 before boarding . Upon our arrival at Penang, we were warmly welcomed by a group of local performers . A surprising start to the trip. A photo taken together with 2 of the performers outside Penang International...
