Hola from Madrid, Segovia n Sevilla

I'm back from Spain! The 12 days of my trip are over and I have already been back to work for a week! As usual, we walked a lot and ate a lot. I built up a lot of calf muscles along the way heh. Hopefully it will come to use for my sundown marathon in 28 days time hahah. I think I might have a hard time as I barely trained for it. Oh well.. I'll take it slow.

Anyway Spain is quite different from my Europe trip last year. There is obviously less shopping this time as compared. The shops were mainly Zara, Mango and Loewe. Unfortunately, I do not fancy any Loewe bags this time...

Rohit, who was studying over at Madrid picked us up from the airport. After we checked in, we went for a walk along the busy shopping street and headed towards a huge park. As usual, ppl in Europe love parks.

We ended the day with dinner as we were a little jet lagged. We had Jamon (ham) which is a Spanish delicacy. Not forgetting a bottle of wine... Wine and beers are much cheaper than soft drinks and mineral water in Spain.

The train service in Spain is so well connected, it made traveling around very easy.

Check out the beautiful backdrop we found while taking a train.

We made a day trip to Segovia for their suckling pig!

Some easter treats. Actually they are too sweet for my liking.

And for our long awaited suckling pig! The skin is so crispy on the outside but the meat inside is so juicy and tender. There was juicy flowing out when it was cut. It was simply mouth watering...

Cheers to nice food :)

Back at Madrid, we had churros! I like churros with sugar. The chocolate over there has a very strong cinnamon taste which was not to my liking.

Dinner was at Mexican restaurant with Rohit and friends. I like the girl from Ukraine. She's so cool and chatty. The other guy is her bf and he's from France. Both of them are so tall, we are like midgets beside them.

From Madrid, we moved on to Sevilla. A small town that we pretty much covered in a day. The main attraction were the cathedral and Alcazar ( it is like a mini version of Granada Alhambra).

Inside Alcazar

Can you see the rainbow?

Another great lunch with good squid ink pasta and salmon that melts in your mouth.

I'll blog more on Granada, Barcelona and Lisbon in the next entry. There are too many pics to be posted so I got to be selective haha

The Orange Timber

Today was a pretty chill day, walking around, eating and reading my book! It has been a long time since I walked along Blk 85 market. I think the last time was during my sec sch days, on my way back to my grandma house after sch. Since I had breakfast there with my grandma today, I showed der the old sch cake shop where Cham and I bought a huge cream cake (not those fanciful ones we get these days) and finished it all by ourselves under the void deck! Der and I couldn't resist the temptation to buy a slice each :) Strawberry vs blueberry...Only $1.10 each. Those miniture ones that are sold at toast box cost $1.20 and they are only 1/3 the size of this! What a rip off for something nostalgia... Later in the evening, we decided to chill at The Orange Timber @ Tiong Bahru The Orange Timber is a cafe cum art gallery. The plates are bowl used were also meant to be something nostalgia once again... hah However, I use those cutlery at home too. There are like 3 sections to this small cafe...

JetSaver Light Challenge - Penang Trip

A very big Thank You to Jetstar and JetSaver Light! We had an AWESOME trip. Not only was it a cultural and stomach full filling trip filled with nothing but one of the very best food :), we also experienced the affable nature of the people in Penang and most importantly, we made many friends to keep :) Below was the itinerary that got us selected. And we're proud to say that we completed everything mentioned and accomplished even more. Wednesday, 1st July  marks JetSaver Light inaugural flight to Penang and also our, team 4's (GO! Go! team 4!!), inaugural trip to Penang on Jetstar with a budget of SGD60. After the initial briefing and collecting of our SGD60 which we converted to  RM144 , we were all ready and excited to jet off. Checking out the duty free at terminal 1 before boarding . Upon our arrival at Penang, we were warmly welcomed by a group of local performers . A surprising start to the trip. A photo taken together with 2 of the performers outside Penang International...
