Cookyn with Mervyn

Had my company's 2nd team quarterly event on Friday and it was awesome!!! I was just brainstorming for ideas for our quarterly event over lunch when someone mentioned something about a private cooking lesson stint she saw on tv. I immediately grabbed by iphone and viola...Cookyn with Mervyn came up on google.

If anyone is interested, below is the link:

Even though the price was way too steep for our budget, I was impressed at how accommodating and efficient they were. I was greeted by a very sweet voice over the phone which turned out to be Mervyn's capable wife. She took the trouble to fit as much as possible within our budget. With all the trouble she went through within such a short notice (I only gave her 2 days of notice) and such a sweet voice over the phone, I was dying to go for the lesson!! :)
The team embraced the idea and we were set for a night of cooking!

Below is a pic of all of us before we started, all decked in our aprons. We were greeted by a very young couple and a beautiful kitchen the moment we stepped into the place. Perfect setting for cultivating one's cooking interest.

Chef Mervyn and his wife Amanda.

Our chef doing some demonstrations.

The menu for the day includes 2 dishes + 1 dessert. I am really impressed at how simple it is to cook up some sophisticated dishes we get in the restaurants.

We started off making the dessert which was Chocolate Mousse with Fresh Berries. We had to fluff up creams and eggs. It really trained up our arm muscles heh.

The 1st dish we made was Chicken Leg stuffed with Feta Cheese.

For the vegetarians, we made Wild Mushrooms with miso paste and lemon.

The 2nd dish was Spaghetti & Seafood tossed in Cashew Nut & Laksa Leave Pesto.

Check out the final product of all our dishes on 1 plate :) We were ready for dinner!!

Mervyn also did 1 chng tng sorbet. I love it! I intend to turn my mum's chng tng into that the next time.

Check our our happy faces :)

Thanks Mervyn and Amanda!

The Orange Timber

Today was a pretty chill day, walking around, eating and reading my book! It has been a long time since I walked along Blk 85 market. I think the last time was during my sec sch days, on my way back to my grandma house after sch. Since I had breakfast there with my grandma today, I showed der the old sch cake shop where Cham and I bought a huge cream cake (not those fanciful ones we get these days) and finished it all by ourselves under the void deck! Der and I couldn't resist the temptation to buy a slice each :) Strawberry vs blueberry...Only $1.10 each. Those miniture ones that are sold at toast box cost $1.20 and they are only 1/3 the size of this! What a rip off for something nostalgia... Later in the evening, we decided to chill at The Orange Timber @ Tiong Bahru The Orange Timber is a cafe cum art gallery. The plates are bowl used were also meant to be something nostalgia once again... hah However, I use those cutlery at home too. There are like 3 sections to this small cafe...

Having the Chills

If you, Derrick is ever reading this, I would suggest you close this page. It's my right to type whatever I want. I won't mince my words because this is my space. I hardly feel unwell and this not the best time to fall sick. Yet I'm having the chills. Whenever my boob hurts, I will start to get the chills and a little temperature. It had to come at the time when i'm feeling totally not in the mood to do anything. I think I should swallow a few more pills. What I had isn't enough. Guess feeling down really brings down one's immune system. We just got news that we will be moving back to Singapore and the first thing that came to my mind is F*** I've to face her. That fake face (literally fake. No amount of make up helps la. old means old. draw what draw) who pretends she doesn't care or even when we talk face to face she says no no it's ok. PUI! Der will be unhappy reading this but i blame it on him for making the situation like this. No amount of ...
