Budapest

Spent a good 4 days in Budapest. As usual, it was tiring but I would say it was a good trip. Of course there are times when the little one drove me nuts but as usual I still enjoyed the trip. Charlotte is now able to walk more stably and enjoys running around. However it is be both a good and bad thing at the same time. I get a break when she is walking but it would also mean spending more time at one place as she does not always follow our instructions to head in the direction you would like her to. Whenever time permits, I try my best to let her roam wherever she likes and take things slow.

One of the nicer pictures we took as a family was on the Szechenyi Chain Bridge. A suspension bridge that spans the River Danube between Buda and Pest, the western and eastern side of Budapest. Charlotte managed to walk the entire chain bridge even though it took us sometime. She was so excited on that day, she was dancing and clapping along the way hah. It was a good scenic walk.

With a baby, we gave up the idea of walking up the Buda hills. Instead, we chose the easy way up by taking a tram. Quick and easier.
The view on top was great.

Charlotte had a lot of fun running around the grass patches and touching all the little flowers blooming on the grass patches.

We even managed a nice dinner up there at a restaurant called Pest-Buda.

I noticed that Charlotte ate much better during this trip as compared to previous trips. It could be because she has grown up. During the trip, she ate everything that we ate. In previous trips, she did not like to eat bread which is the main food that will be in all the meals. She used to only eat pasta. Thus we always had to order pasta even though she eats so little so that she at least has something substantial to eat. This time round, it was much easier when it comes to food.

She couldn't wait to gobble up all our food whenever it came to meal times!

Having our dinner at a quirky little pub called For Sale Pub. The cool thing about the place was that it serves peanuts and we could just toss the peanut shells anywhere on the floor. I was apprehensive when I first saw the place as it was dimly lit. From experience, Charlotte does not do well in dimly lit places. But she did well at this place even though it took quite long for the food to arrive!

Another discovery, Charlotte lovessss ice cream! Her eyes lit up at whenever we mentioned ice cream haha. She even finished a ice cream cone by herself. I am junk food mother myself. So I just let her eat whatever she wants especially since we are on vacation. Everyone deserves to indulge when on vacation.
How can we resist such a beautiful rose like ice cream??

We managed a off the beaten track tourist attraction this trip too. We visited the Children Railway. A railway fully run by children under the supervision of adult railway workers. It was cool seeing them take their jobs so seriously. Reminded me of the time when I first started working. Always on the ball! We bought a return ticket but I guess most people will only do 1 way. It worked out fine for us as Charlotte slept through the first ride. With a return ticket, at least she got to experience it.

As usual, 4 days flew past very quickly. I didn't managed to do any shopping this trip. Only window shopping heh. But it's ok.

Good Bye Budapest!
Next trip will be a trip back home to attend my bro's wedding :)

The Orange Timber

Today was a pretty chill day, walking around, eating and reading my book! It has been a long time since I walked along Blk 85 market. I think the last time was during my sec sch days, on my way back to my grandma house after sch. Since I had breakfast there with my grandma today, I showed der the old sch cake shop where Cham and I bought a huge cream cake (not those fanciful ones we get these days) and finished it all by ourselves under the void deck! Der and I couldn't resist the temptation to buy a slice each :) Strawberry vs blueberry...Only $1.10 each. Those miniture ones that are sold at toast box cost $1.20 and they are only 1/3 the size of this! What a rip off for something nostalgia... Later in the evening, we decided to chill at The Orange Timber @ Tiong Bahru The Orange Timber is a cafe cum art gallery. The plates are bowl used were also meant to be something nostalgia once again... hah However, I use those cutlery at home too. There are like 3 sections to this small cafe...

JetSaver Light Challenge - Penang Trip

A very big Thank You to Jetstar and JetSaver Light! We had an AWESOME trip. Not only was it a cultural and stomach full filling trip filled with nothing but one of the very best food :), we also experienced the affable nature of the people in Penang and most importantly, we made many friends to keep :) Below was the itinerary that got us selected. And we're proud to say that we completed everything mentioned and accomplished even more. Wednesday, 1st July  marks JetSaver Light inaugural flight to Penang and also our, team 4's (GO! Go! team 4!!), inaugural trip to Penang on Jetstar with a budget of SGD60. After the initial briefing and collecting of our SGD60 which we converted to  RM144 , we were all ready and excited to jet off. Checking out the duty free at terminal 1 before boarding . Upon our arrival at Penang, we were warmly welcomed by a group of local performers . A surprising start to the trip. A photo taken together with 2 of the performers outside Penang International...
