Even though I'm perpetually on holiday, I still love a holiday! And I love going for holiday with my hubby coz I know I will be well taken care of hah. I'm a lazy bum~ For our final trip this year, we went from Moscow to Frankfurt and then a 7 days long trip in New York City. Woohoo ~ the US and I can't wait to visit the other parts of US next year. Who says I'm going to the US again? ME!! haha I insist on going back. This explains why I still own a Starbucks card that is loaded with cash. Just kidding! I wish I have checked the value in my card before I left and not leave cash in it. How if I never get to use it?!? No way.. I'll make sure I finish it someday hah. I was told that this year, the Christmas atmosphere here in Moscow way exceeds the past years. In Moscow, people do not celebrate Christmas until January and Christmas is also not a big national event. A brief history... January 7 is the Christmas Day in Russia and it marks the birth of Jesus Christ in the Christian Orthodox tradition. Although banned during the Soviet times, Christmas is gradually gaining popularity and religious meaning in Russia. This year, more elaborate Christmas decors are sprouting up everywhere and efforts were put in to create a wonderful winter holiday vibe. According to a report, the world's largest man-made ice skating ring opened right here in Moscow City and is located at the All-Russia Exhibition Center (VDNKh). Upon reading this news, I was all hyped up and decided to pay the place a visit last Sunday :) The ring was indeed huge and the ice was so smooth that I kept falling so many times hah. The place resembles a winter wonderland. But of course due to the weekend, the place was packed with people. We queued for about an hour under the freezing temperature. I thought I was gong to turn into a snow man hah. The cost of skating. It cost 400rub on Sunday from 5pm-11pm. Off we go after the long wait... Us on the dance floor area haha. for ice skating! Ice skating rings are popping up all around Moscow at this time of the year. I doubt there are any russians that cannot ice skate hahah (I'm exaggerating) So to immerse into Russian's winter culture, we brought our skates down to Gorky Park to have some fun!   I may not be able to skate now but I sure can balance! hah I'll be practising my skating skills and hopefully I will be able to glide smoothly by the end of winter ;) Derrick trying to pose like a figure skater hahaha The ring at Gorky Park is amazing, it is unlike the rings in Singapore that is only 1 rectangle space. This ring is practically the walking path of the park where we can skate to the restaurants for a cuppa of coffee or have some food etc. Basically, it is easier to get around on skates then if you are walking. There are some areas that will not even be accessible if you are not skating. Everyone was having so much fun! I can't wait to visit all the other ice skating ring...

Bak chor mee when I went back to Singapore. Despite settling my craving for it, it came to me even here in Moscow! All thanks to SC, we got to savour the local flavours back at home. Yummy~ even the presentation looks like the ones from the hawker centre :) can you spot the packet of hargow behind? hah

We were early for our flight but the flight was delayed because of this... Yes Obama arrived in Yangon on the day I was flying out to Bagan. Our flight was delayed for 2 hrs. Thus we were stuck in the airport for about 4 hrs.... note to myself again.. always bring some snacks to entertain myself on trips! We flew on a tiny propellor plane with Golden Myanmar Airlines to Bagan. It took us about 1.5hrs to reach. It was a no frills flight. Even the baggage collection was a manual process. A staff would carry the luggage one by one down the plane and bring them into the arrival hall. The passengers would have to recognize their bags and go forth to collect them. Upon arrival, everyone had to purchase a 5-days pass for USD15 as we are all in the Bagan Archaeological Zone. This ticket allowed us to roam freely without paying for any more entrance fees.
