My Weekend Getaway - Hua Hin

I literally only had 56hours for my weekend trip to Thailand. I was so desperate to get out that I searched all airlines and destinations to find the cheapest and possible place to fly to within this short span of time. In the end, we settled for Hua Hin, Thailand's Royal Beach Resort.

Awww... don't you wish you were facing this scene hahahaha I felt gooood staring at the sea just doing nothing.
As we only had 1 night in hua hin (We spent the first night in bkk.  We took a mini van for approx 2.5hrs to hua hin in the morning. The van can be taken from Victory Monument for just 180 Baht per pax.), we decided to splurge a little. We settled on Hyatt Regency Hua Hin. I must applaud the service level there as the employees were all so courteous and attentive. Even up to providing towels by the beach or pool, no matter which secluded spot I choose, some one will come all the way up and lay my towel on the seats for me :)
Hyatt owns part of the beach so it's just a few steps away from my room. There's no need to take a bus all the way to Hua Hin beach. I'm sure there's a difference in the beaches but for the short time span, I'm happy with what I get.
The pool area was pretty cool too and it is right in front of the beach. Everything was made so convenient.
The room was simple and pleasant. 2 big Mangoes were presented as our welcome fruit hah.
Our bed with a welcome card. Guess what's the message on the welcome card?
-_-! Der's means of getting us a room. I must say they were very attentive. I was a bit puzzled when ppl said happy anniversary or when they called me Mrs Leow. Only after I see this card, pieces of the puzzle fitted together.
On my way to Hua Hin, I met a very nice lady who spoke of so much fondness about the Barai Spa at Hyatt. She mentioned it was an award winning spa and how amazing everything was. Even if I didn't want to have a massage, I should definitely walk through to experience.
This is the long dark path leading into the spa. The pics above were taken in the day. When i visited the spa, it was night. The path looked pretty eerie hah. I couldn't even see the end of it.
The moment i reached the end, i was greeted by this huge pond in the middle. It was to dark to take any pics so this was taken online but it is exactly how it looked.
The lady also mentioned that I could have dinner at this beautiful restaurant outside the spa. Since the spa was way beyond our budget, about sgd$200 for a basic massage, we settled for dinner instead. It was a great dinner by the beach. We should have came early when the sun was setting coz it was dark when we arrived. Nonetheless, i enjoyed dinner. It was so comfy...
The menu was done in conjunction with the various spa treatments. It was named after the 4 elements, water, fire, earth and air. We chose the earth and water menu.
The meat was great. Esp the lamb.
After dinner, we took a walk outside the resort and there was a bustling artsy night market - Cicada
A beautiful pic at the night market.
Just beyond the boundaries of the resort, it was a world of a difference. Once again, it is the convenience and once can experience both high end and the localized side of Hua Hin.
One of the attractions at Hua Hin was the vineyards which we intended to pay a visit initially. However since we came across the wine cellar at the mall near the town, we just bought a wine there and pretended we went to the vine yard hahha. The wine is sooo cheap.$6 for a bottle of normal red wine! Can't even get house pours for so cheap hah

We finished a bottle on our own hah It tasted like grape juice even though it had 8% alcohol content.
This marks the end of our trip. I scooted back to Singapore while der flew with his SIA...

The Orange Timber

Today was a pretty chill day, walking around, eating and reading my book! It has been a long time since I walked along Blk 85 market. I think the last time was during my sec sch days, on my way back to my grandma house after sch. Since I had breakfast there with my grandma today, I showed der the old sch cake shop where Cham and I bought a huge cream cake (not those fanciful ones we get these days) and finished it all by ourselves under the void deck! Der and I couldn't resist the temptation to buy a slice each :) Strawberry vs blueberry...Only $1.10 each. Those miniture ones that are sold at toast box cost $1.20 and they are only 1/3 the size of this! What a rip off for something nostalgia... Later in the evening, we decided to chill at The Orange Timber @ Tiong Bahru The Orange Timber is a cafe cum art gallery. The plates are bowl used were also meant to be something nostalgia once again... hah However, I use those cutlery at home too. There are like 3 sections to this small cafe...
