Ootoya

I love Ootoya despite a few small grouses. The quality of food is good and comparable to the ones I had in Japan. Even the portions are the same - Big portions with lots of carbo. There is free refill of rice. Nonetheless, I love the cold udon and I am kinda craving for it now.

However I feel that the queue is too long. I waited more than 1 hour for my turn and during the meal, I had to keep asking for tea refills before someone actually fills my tea. I read that the tea they served is known as genmaicha. It is actually green tea with brown rice. Nice~~ No wonder I feel that the tea tasted a bit different. Just didn't know wat's the diff. I might try again to go at a less peak time and see how it goes.

My set - Cold Udon with mini grilled chicken rice set. The guys laughed at my Udon coz they looked lk they were sun bathing.

According to Elf, Ootoya is really famous tt's y there is a queue.

A starving der who was excited over the restaurant having free rice refill. However he had no stomach for another bowl in the end.

Desserts. I like the macha mousse. However I was disappointed with the second dessert. I forgot the name.

I love trying out new restaurants. Can't wait for my next one :) Oh i'm going to dozo again next week! Another nice place.

The Orange Timber

Today was a pretty chill day, walking around, eating and reading my book! It has been a long time since I walked along Blk 85 market. I think the last time was during my sec sch days, on my way back to my grandma house after sch. Since I had breakfast there with my grandma today, I showed der the old sch cake shop where Cham and I bought a huge cream cake (not those fanciful ones we get these days) and finished it all by ourselves under the void deck! Der and I couldn't resist the temptation to buy a slice each :) Strawberry vs blueberry...Only $1.10 each. Those miniture ones that are sold at toast box cost $1.20 and they are only 1/3 the size of this! What a rip off for something nostalgia... Later in the evening, we decided to chill at The Orange Timber @ Tiong Bahru The Orange Timber is a cafe cum art gallery. The plates are bowl used were also meant to be something nostalgia once again... hah However, I use those cutlery at home too. There are like 3 sections to this small cafe...

JetSaver Light Challenge - Penang Trip

A very big Thank You to Jetstar and JetSaver Light! We had an AWESOME trip. Not only was it a cultural and stomach full filling trip filled with nothing but one of the very best food :), we also experienced the affable nature of the people in Penang and most importantly, we made many friends to keep :) Below was the itinerary that got us selected. And we're proud to say that we completed everything mentioned and accomplished even more. Wednesday, 1st July  marks JetSaver Light inaugural flight to Penang and also our, team 4's (GO! After the initial briefing and collecting of our SGD60 which we converted to  RM144 , we were all ready and excited to jet off. Checking out the duty free at terminal 1 before boarding . Upon our arrival at Penang, we were warmly welcomed by a group of local performers . A surprising start to the trip. A photo taken together with 2 of the performers outside Penang International...
