The Orange Timber

Today was a pretty chill day, walking around, eating and reading my book! It has been a long time since I walked along Blk 85 market. I think the last time was during my sec sch days, on my way back to my grandma house after sch. Since I had breakfast there with my grandma today, I showed der the old sch cake shop where Cham and I bought a huge cream cake (not those fanciful ones we get these days) and finished it all by ourselves under the void deck! Der and I couldn't resist the temptation to buy a slice each :) Strawberry vs blueberry...Only $1.10 each. Those miniture ones that are sold at toast box cost $1.20 and they are only 1/3 the size of this! What a rip off for something nostalgia... Later in the evening, we decided to chill at The Orange Timber @ Tiong Bahru The Orange Timber is a cafe cum art gallery. The plates are bowl used were also meant to be something nostalgia once again... hah However, I use those cutlery at home too. There are like 3 sections to this small cafe...

Terry Fox Run 2012

Happy Lunar New Year Eve to all! Today's New Year Eve and I'm looking forward to steamboat tonight :) I love Chinese New Year. I just feel lucky and that everything will be even better for the new year. So I wish everyone a prosperous new year ahead! Also, I'm really glad to be able to squeeze in a run before the new year. The Terry Fox run - a 10km run to raise funds for Cancer. It was my first time joining it and I must say it was a gooood run. The group was small group and I could feel the sincerity of the organizers. I especially love the idea of giving out cookies at the end of the run. Vain pot wants me to take a pic of him Nicely packed apples. Standchart run didn't even give me a banana now! There was even free starbucks coffee. How cool hah I definitely encourage ppl to join this run next year! Hope it does not become as commercialize as the other runs.

Disrupted Holiday Plans

I'm feeling a little disappointed today coz my holiday plans are being disrupted. I was happily looking forward to Feb this year as Der and I were planning for a long trip. Blow 1: I told my boss back in Dec 2010 thinking that I will definitely be able to take leave. However my boss had plans at the exact same period and I had to give in to him. Blow 2: Der tried changing his leave to the beginning of March to accommodate me and we were so happy when his leave was approved. We were choosing between Eastern Europe and West America. However he was told today by another boss that the leave is not approved! His boss said he can try taking April instead. arggggg from feb to march and now to april. I dont even feel anything as april seems to be so far away. I could be going for my 2nd trip in April! Anyway... My new year's pressie to myself... My red Prada bag hahah Bring me luck for the new year!!!!

Happy 2012!

Year 2011 past by really fast for me. Maybe it was because I changed my job and it has only been 1 year. Anyway decided to splurge a little since it was the new year. However I thought it wasn't really worth the price. We went for dinner at this restaurant called ECO. Nestled in a very quiet part of Singapore... Labrador Park. The place has a nice ambiance, really good if you want to be away from all the hustle and bustle since it was so packed everywhere during New Year's Day. This place reminds be a little of Villa Bali as well as Baan Rim Pa in Phuket. I liked the bread and this ham with pickle thingy they gave before our meal I even had Duck Foire Gras as my starter...actually I didn't like it hahah As city dwellers, the night will not be complete if we didn't make our way down to Clarke Quay to squeeze with the crowd for the countdown! We even managed to catch the fireworks A pity most of the girls were not in town. Otherwise it will be the usual hs gathering. Anywa...

Bangkok 2011

Woohoo~ I finally managed to squeeze in a trip to Bangkok before the end of 2011. BKK feels like a second home to me hah, just like another Orchard road. There were no signs of flood and everything seems to be back to normal with shoppers everywhere and Christmas decorations donning all the shopping malls. I must say for a country that does not celebrate Christmas, the decorations are brilliant! They have much more interactive decorations than compared to Singapore. Outside Central World Outside Platinum Mall Thanks to Am, we were introduced to a new place called K Village. It resembles our Robertson quay. It is a great place to chill. It was nice meeting you Am! Thanks for Dinner. Anyway, the cupcakes here are nice :) The shop is at Siam Paragon. Merry Christmas! Us with our red velvet cupcake :)

Heritage along footpaths...

What can you do with these coins? Nothing much you would say? You are wrong! I was taken by surprise on my way to Bras Brasah mrt when I saw a small crowd of ppl gathering around SAM. Upon closer look, I spotted this sign. What?!? Yup you saw it right :) This was an initiative rolled out by the Singapore Heritage Board and the project is called Heritage Along Footpaths . This project brought me back to my parents era and I definitely see myself being put into the settings of the current Channel 8 show, A Song to Remember. Being the very excited self, I had to try the ice balls which was much talked about by my dad. It was fun while it lasted as I decided it was too messy hahah Der and I had syrup all over our clothes and shoes. I think it is easier to eat a bowl of ice kachang oops. But I admit it was fun! Besides having the ice ball, I decided to mend my shoes since it is soooo cheap as compared to the price I usually pay. The uncle at SAM had too many shoes to handle. Thus he pointed...
